Introduction

The Delaware Museum of Natural History has existed in Wilmington, Delaware for (x) years. in 2019, they decided to revisit the museum's content and messaging. Enlisting the help of international architects R+P Design to rebrand themselves as The Delaware Museum of Nature & Science. The Design Foundation aided in the media planning and design, during the design phase, and provided art direction and production of immersive and interactive elements during the production phase.

The Requirements

As the newly rebranded Delaware Museum of Nature & Science, the museum wished to focus its attention on incorporating its existing science with more contemporary research regarding local and global climate issues. With this in mind, the spatial planning divided the existing spaces into two discreet areas: one dealing with eco-zones specific to Delaware, the other outlining similar but global eco-zones and patterns. In designing the media, The Design Foundation found it necessary to provide content tie ins from one space to the next.

The Response
The Result

The newly rebranded Delaware Museum of Nature & Science has opened to much fanfare. It's popularity increased with the addition of the new media installation showcasing scientists in the field. Those scientists conducting contemporary research have aa additional forum in which to showcase their current finds, and link it to the content presented in the museum.
